This is a reminder that some excellent book giveaways are about to end without YOUR participation. First and foremost is our Young Birder’s Guide Giveaway, wherein we’re giving away 3 copies of Bill Thompson III’s terrific Young Birder’s Guide to Birds of Eastern North America. Can you believe we haven’t heard from any young birders yet? If you represent a youth or youths who might be observing avians in the years to come, you could become a hero just by introducing our easy essay contest on Why Watching Birds is Fun. Alternately, you can share some of your favorite tips for How to Get Kids Excited About Birds. Even if you just spread the word to others, you’ve got a shot at a bird guide any kid could use. So what are you waiting for? The deadline is this Wednesday, May 28.

Amila Salgado also has some books to give away. He announced a fantastic giveaway in his equally fantastic edition of I and the Bird #75. There’s a couple of killer books in play and all you need to do is read the engaging IATB entries and answer a quiz based on the posts. Do we really need to twist your arm? We are talking about the world’s best bird blogging, after all. Amila has extended the deadline to May 31, so get cracking.

And speaking of I and the Bird, Tuesday the 27 is the deadline for entries for IATB #76, hosted by Susannah at Wanderin’ Weeta. Get a link and summary to your best wild-bird or birding related post to me or Susannah (susannah AT dccnet DOT com) ASAP.
