Who would do such a thing? The bird, dubbed #286, is in custody at the Los Angeles Zoo, and its prognosis is guarded. The bird, which was taken into custody because of a belief it was suffering from lead poisoning, was also discovered to have been shot, as several shotgun pellets were found in already-healed wounds.
