I’m not sure exactly why a 2006 year list seemed like a good idea. Perhaps it’s because I had already spotted most of the easy birds in NYC numerous times and needed a reason to seek them out again. Reviewing my life list at the end of 2005 brought me back to some of the more exciting sightings, our trips and travels as well as our more sure-footed forays close to home. Perhaps my motivation was less about the birds than the places where they congregate, a reason to return to old stomping grounds.
