Summer, by which I mean practical summer as opposed to natural summer,  is just about half-over. I hate to remind you, my teaching friends, but in North America we’re as close to the beginning of a new school year as we are to the end of the last one! The implications of this revelation are complex and far-reaching, but if you derive but a single moral from the story here, it should be that each remaining day of summer is precious. Live it up! What will you be doing this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Summer birding around here has been pretty sweet, so I’m going to continue to press my unexpected luck. The newly arrived shorebirds at Montezuma NWR are calling! Corey doubts he’ll go anywhere fun this weekend, but will try to fit in some local birding.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
