Bald Eagle Sub-adult

Are you excited? The biggest holiday observed in the United States falls this weekend and, for the fifth time in six years, a team named for a bird is part of the festivities. I’m not saying birders should automatically be rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl or even suggesting that I, a devout Giants fan, would ever lower myself to do so. All I’m saying is that, if you don’t already have a favorite in this fight, you do have a bird-themed team to support. Have a wonderful Superb Owl Sunday!

I’ve recently suffered an optics mishap that would, if I shared it, shake you to your core. Let’s just say I’m between bins right now, which will put a damper on this weekend’s birding. Corey, on the other hand, is driving through a snowstorm towards the Adirondacks, where he hopes to lock in some boreal specialties.

How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
