Let a hot Merritt Island sunset keep you warm!

Here in the northeastern United States, stultifying forces assail us from every side. Not only has the polar vortex established a permanent chill in our collective bones, but those who care about such things must also endure the winter doldrums. Very little is happening on the birding front these days. Fortunately, some fresh diversions beckon…

I can afford to stay inside where it’s toasty and warm this weekend, because I have two editions of the Sibley Guide to compare and contrast (although the word contrast may be a sore point with the newer edition). Corey might do the same, but then again, he will likely venture outdoors to, like some ornithological Rumpelstiltskin, spin birds out of ice.

How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
