Another weekend lies ahead, one unencumbered by the holiday madness that pervades much of the late autumn months. If you could see out my window, you’d be admiring azure skies most uncommon in western New York this time of year. I aim to enjoy my weekend. How about you? How will you be spending this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments section.

Birding has pretty much come to a halt around here. My excuse is that I’m paralyzed with anticipation waiting for Corey to return to regale us with his Ecuador adventure. How many hundreds of birds did he see? Is it possible that he’ll never return to the United States again, unwilling to abandon one of the most birdy and biodiverse countries on Earth? We’ll find out soon enough. Until he returns, we can continue to enjoy photos from my trip to Ecuador in January. Here are the mercurial skies over the paramo at Papallacta Pass, a truly breathtaking and unearthly environment…

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
