Oh to be under blue skies in Estonia

Most of us in the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere tend to come together in support of at least one cliche, that of the White Christmas. This is to say that, unless inclement weather scuttles your meticulously calibrated travel plans, a blanket of snow makes the holidays more merry. But once December is naught but a memory invoked by exorbitant credit card bills, we who live under the oppression of frigid winter separate into two camps. Snow bunnies want to see the good times roll with fresh powder on the slopes and sledding hills. Others, best described as the sane ones, wouldn’t mind a very, very, very early spring. Give me Snowy Owls over snow any day (except Xmas of course)!

Corey will be adding warm weather birds back into his identification banks in preparation for his imminent arrival at Space Coast. I just booked a trip to a place even more exotic than Florida; although I’m not leaving until mid-February, studying trip reports begins now.

How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
