Where Are You Birding This Final Weekend of May 2015?

What fresh wonders will the magical last weekend of May deliver? If you live in NYC, one of the world’s great cities, you can rejoice in the spectacle of Manhattanhenge, as sunset this evening aligns with majestic symmetry with the New York City street grid. On the other hand, if you don’t live in New York, you can deal with it, just as you do every weekend…

Of course, I kid, since I am a grateful Bronx expat. I’ll be rocking Rochester this weekend, enjoying that fact that I don’t have to contend with a city street grid. Corey is working hard these days, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he uncovered a Manhattanhenge rarity.

Are there still migrants and warblers coming through Central Park at this point? My visit this week there was pretty uneventful.

Looks so tranquil in your photo – I wouldn’t guess it’s near NYC. I’m in Vail, CO, this weekend where there is lots less snow than in Breckenridge where I live.

I will be on call for work so I will be birding my backyard where I will certainly see Anna’s and Rufous Hummingbirds (possibly Calliope also), Acorn Woodpecker, Lesser Goldfinch, Oak Titmouse, Western Bluebird, Ash-throated Flycatcher and one of my favorite California endemics, the Nuttall’s Woodpecker, which will be featured in my next post on Wednesday at 1PM, right here on 10000 Birds 😉
