You’d think that a long weekend launched by Turkey Day would prove popular for birding in the United States. On the contrary, the fourth weekend of the month usually features eating, traveling, football, more eating, shopping, and maybe–if the leftovers hold out–still more eating. Plus, birding is never all that popular in these parts. Nonetheless, those of us who wisely take advantage of the time and opportunity to sneak in a little birding should be thankful.

I’m traveling down to NYC for some family fun, just as Corey is vacating the city for parts north. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
