Common Woodpigeon on way out to bird. Managed a Vommon Loon and Rock Pipit so far!
Female Downy Woodpecker on our suet feeder
My first was a Canada Goose that honked as it flew over the house this morning.
A Carolina wren scuffling about in the back yard.
I think it was a black capped chickadee.
Collared Dove as I opened the balcony door of our bungalow at the French Cote d’Azur, where I spend two weeks with my family. Just a second later, a Magpie called, so it’s almost a double-first-bird.
Ring-billed gulls soaring over Planet Fitness here in Philly. (No rest for the weary, even on a holiday.)
@ Jochen: For real, man? Collard dove? Balcony? Cote d’Azur? Just twist the knife in a little deeper.
Turkey Vulture. We were turning onto a road, and my friend yells something, making me look in that direction. He had seen the TUVU as he was checking the roads and wanted me to see it too (to drag me down with him). I guess it’s better than a crow…
First bird was Brown Honeyeater and 122nd bird for the day was Olive-backed Oriole…slacken off now!
366 days to bird this year! 🙂
Anhinga flying by the Palmetto Expressway as drove to south Miami for the First Birding Day of 2016.
Well, St Tropez just had a kingfisher – I hope there are better birds at Cannes tomorrow… 🙂
While acquainting a new group with their territory for the Cadiz, Ohio, CBC (Our 115 th consecutive year) we scoped a mudflat and found 47 killdeer and 10 snipe! Outrageous numbers for Ohio in January and hopefully a good omen for the upcoming year.
I can’t believe I forgot to include mine – I had a Common Raven to start the year!
