The U.S. Geological Survey Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) is tracking the migrations of Common Loons sporting satellite transmitters. USGS scientists are in it for the avian botulism data, but you’ll love their cool website complete with animations of where each loon ends its day. Maybe we should bet on some of these birds?
