Corey is a New Yorker who lived most of his life in upstate New York but has lived in Queens since 2008. He's only been birding since 2005 but has garnered a respectable life list by birding whenever he wasn't working as a union representative or spending time with his family. He lives in Forest Hills with Daisy and Desmond Shearwater. His bird photographs have appeared on the Today Show, in Birding, Living Bird Magazine, Bird Watcher's Digest, and many other fine publications. He is also the author of the American Birding Association Field Guide to the Birds of New York.

There are some lovely, lovely birds there. I have a very small collection of bird art, my favorite piece being an original watercolor of, don’t laugh, a dead downy woodpecker. I met the artist, Todd Telander, at the ABA 2000 convention in Ft. Collins, Colorado. I kept going back to Todd’s booth during the week, and finally summoned the nerve to talk to him about buying this piece. We reached an agreement that I would put down a deposit and then pay the remainder in installments. Todd was very generous and let me take the artwork home with me. I had it rematted and framed and it hangs in my office as I write this.
I would appreciate it if whoever buys the raven or shearwaters for Corey could also pick up the three-toed woodpecker for me!
