Some days, Sara and I just need to go hiking. We need to travel through deep woods and over high rocks. We need to move at a speed that reminds us just how many muscles we actually have. We need to pass under tall trees, to smell the peppery scent of ferns. We have to get far enough away from the road that the omnipresent din of traffic fades from the background. Today, we didn’t go birding. We went hiking.
