I’m deeply saddened at the news that Klaus Peter has passed away. Klaus was a phenomenal nature photographer based out of Florida and a long-time blog friend. The fact that we never met in person does nothing to diminish my sorrow at his passing. Please take a few moments to visit his site Virtua Gallery and browse his remarkable portfolio. Mike is a leading authority in the field of standardized test preparation, but he's also a traveler who fully expects to see every bird in the world. Besides founding 10,000 Birds in 2003, Mike has also created a number of other entertaining but now extirpated nature blog resources, particularly the Nature Blog Network and I and the Bird.
His beautiful images and kind comments will be sorely missed.
I’ve been following Klaus’s photography via his blog and Flickr groups for a while. Not only was he a wonderful wildlife photographer, he was clearly a mentor for many Florida wildlife photographers, and I always thought I’d run into him on one of my trips down there. What a shock.
