The Mountain Lion struck and killed by a car in Connecticut in June has been confirmed as a wild animal. Its journey originated in South Dakota, 1,500 miles to the west! The last confirmed sighting of a cougar in Connecticut was in the late 1800s.

Incredible that it reached Conn. and such a shame that it was hit by a car. Maybe wandering Cougars explains other sightings in the east (my aunt swears that she saw one in northwestern Penn.).
Amazing research. Makes one wonder how many other discredited sightings are authentic. A sighting like this just adds a touch of hope for Ivory-billed Woodpeckers’ continued existence.
