Now that we’re in the final stretch of 2013, expect the usual litany of “Year in Review” commentary. While hearing the opinions others harbor about the pop culture and politics of the passing year can help us crystallize whatever thoughts we have on those matters, nobody can review those aspects of our years that are truly personal. Many nature lovers keep various and sundry year lists, while many others abstain generally or specifically by year. If you do have a list, you have one more weekend to work on it. If not, you may consider applauding (not critiquing) the big county, year, or life listers you know… a year list can be a lot of fun to review.

Since I shrewdly abstained from keeping a list this year, I can spend this likely birdless weekend without guilt and instead focus on extending my holiday celebrations. Corey, on the other hand, is driven by devils many of you know well: don’t be surprised to see him grinding out one last tick for his impressive year list. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
