Some of you know that I’m an active podcaster, churning out two episodes a week on testing, admissions, learning, and education on the Tests and the Rest podcast. But as much as I love hosting, I also enjoy being a podcast guest–especially when the topic is birding!

No wonder I was so enthusiastic when Michael Hawk invited me as a guest on his own show, the Nature’s Archive Podcast. The offer meant that much more upon review of his prior guests, which included fantastic birders I’ve been out in the field with like Dorian Anderson and Matthew Dodder.

What did Michael and I talk about? In his own words, “we discuss the 10,000 Birds evolution, including how Mike grew the site, the challenges he encountered and overcame, and ‘transferable lessons’ that can be used in other online pursuits. We dig into the unexpected opportunities that arose, as well as the lifelong community of friends and colleagues that it has created.”

Of course, that’s only a taste, so dig into the full interview over at Nature’s Archive Podcast. And thanks again for a great conversation, Michael!

Besides founding 10,000 Birds in 2003, Mike has also created a number of other entertaining but now extirpated nature blog resources, particularly the Nature Blog Network and I and the Bird.
