Corey is a New Yorker who lived most of his life in upstate New York but has lived in Queens since 2008. He's only been birding since 2005 but has garnered a respectable life list by birding whenever he wasn't working as a union representative or spending time with his family. He lives in Forest Hills with Daisy and Desmond Shearwater. His bird photographs have appeared on the Today Show, in Birding, Living Bird Magazine, Bird Watcher's Digest, and many other fine publications. He is also the author of the American Birding Association Field Guide to the Birds of New York.
Dang! I forgot to get your autograph when I met you in Ohio. Photos on the news?! Awesome. Those reports just can’t help themselves with all the bird puns. I have a newspaper reporter friend that I told I would physically harm if I ever saw him print such groaners.
Yeah, “birders flock together” and “all atwitter” are just cheep…um, cheap, shots!
The reporter who did the interviews (not the same one as appears on camera here) was totally out of his element, sincere and friendly, but very confused. It didn’t help that by the time he showed up the bird had taken to flitting about the upper branches of the trees, with only one quick foray down to the feeders. That’s me in the background, with the black ski jacket.
