I am pleased to announce that today is our first wedding anniversary.  That special cake we picked up on Long Island yesterday (from the spectacular Madame Butterfly Cakes) was a fresh, rather than frozen, topper for our wedding cake.  It was superb, just like my wonderful wife.

Many of you may know that the first wedding anniversary is traditionally recognized as the ‘paper’ anniversary.  This has resulted in a bonanza of birding books, for which we are grateful.  We also heard today that we are receiving as a belated wedding present a significant sum towards a quality spotting scope. It’s gratifying that our birding is getting so much financial support.
