The life list has received a huge boost this month and has risen 43 points to 3616. Thunder will be stolen if I reveal how this was done, but another country has been added to our territory list and a new splash of colour to the profile page. All will be revealed in good time. Without including the new pin in the map, countries this month featured; USA, Australia, Serbia, Bahrain, India, Kuwait, New Zealand, UK, Ghana and of course, Costa Rica.
The month of February has produced 838 birds noted by 10 beats who, between them, shared 114 checklists. They visited 11 countries and have pushed the yearly total to 1197.
ps. A late submission has pushed numbers to 939 birds from 179 checklists. The list below does not include these additions as this format is not available once the new month begins and the list is reset.
And still they come. Much of the joy from a birding holiday is in coming home and counting up your treasures. Quite rightly, this should be done slowly and carefully, savouring every new tick. The most update leaves us with a figure of 1064 species from 204 checklists. As explained above, it is not practicable to update the collaborative effort, but like owls, it is often as pleasurable just to know that they are there without the necessity of seeing them.
