Hannah and Erik Go Birding: Sightseeing in Tokyo, Cranes in Hokkaido

We have heard so much about winter birding in Japan, that we just had to check it out for ourselves. Our first couple of days in Japan was spent sightseeing around Tokyo, like a couple of regular tourists, including a few days in Tokyo Disney! There is a lot to see and we only experienced a teeny piece.

From there, we were off to Hokkaido and spent the first few days watching the Red-Crowned Cranes and seawatching in the easternmost town in Japan.

Almost as if by accident, Hannah landed the dream job of Park Ranger in the Rio Grande Valley at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park where she guided many birders who filled her head with far-off destinations and incredible birds.
