While Lapland Longspurs are annual visitors to the NYC area (not that I ever see them), the Empire State is currently hosting only its second recorded Smith’s Longspur. If you’re willing to brave the cold and Long Island’s legendary traffic, check out the Nature Center at Jones Beach West End.
