10 Favorite Bird Songs

John of A DC Birding Blog, originator of the 10 Most Beautiful Birds meme, has made good on his promise to instigate a   10 Favorite Bird Songs list. Students of the blogosphere may note that a list is less infectious and has less sociological sway than a meme. I’m sure that many who succumbed to John’s earlier inspired meme will be able to resist this latest exercise in sorting and listing, but I, alas, cannot:

  1. American Crow
  2. Black-capped Chickadee
  3. Blue Jay
  4. Gray Catbird
  5. House Wren
  6. Northern Cardinal
  7. Northern Mockingbird
  8. Northern Flicker
  9. Tufted Titmouse
  10. Yellow Warbler

My list may be different than others in that it makes no assertions of song quality. Why did I pick these birds then? They’re pretty much the only ones I know! On a good day, I might even go ten for ten with these birds. Maybe after another year of training, I’ll be better qualified to turn a critical ear a la Simon Cowell on aspiring avian American Idols. One can only hope…
