The inimitable Julie Zickefoose wrote a terrific post here last week reporting on the reprehensible practice of shooting Sandhill Cranes. A spirited discussion is still roiling in the comments section of the post, so if you haven’t yet formulated your opinion or expressed it, stop by and say your piece!

I r e a l l y don’t see the difference between hunting cranes and hunting, say, waterfowl. I wouldn’t do it myself, but there are no reasons other than sentiment to disapprove of the one and not of the other. All the same, I’m very proud of alma mater nebraskensis for not allowing it–yet.
