Is there anything else you would like to share with the readers of 10,000 Birds?

This region is rich in birds and wildlife, however, it is not in any way developed, and most locals do not speak English or understand why birders visit. There was nothing here until about 50 years ago. Also, there are no cenotes here – they are in the Centre and the North of the Yucatan. This region was uninhabited from around 950 AD until the 1930s.

It is about a 2 hr drive from Chetumal airport, about 4 hrs from Campeche airport. It is also less than 2 hours to the Border with Belize and about 4 hours to Merida airport
